Shut-In Visitation

Have you ever wondered who would "be there" for you if you became sick, infirm, aged? Have you longed to reach out to veterans, shut-ins, orphans, the disabled and institutionalized, but just didn't know how to go about it?

The Salvation Army League of Mercy may have a place for you.

What is the League of Mercy?

It is a ministry of caring. Men and women reach out to those confined to nursing homes, hospitals and other institutions, letting them know that someone cares. Some of these men and women are uniformed Salvationists. Many are not.

League of Mercy members provide a vital link to the outside world for shut-ins. During regular visits, members may provide such items as toiletries, writing paper, magazines and Bibles. During holidays such as Christmas, League of Mercy members spread joy by delivering small gifts and offering kind words to many lonely people who might not otherwise have any visitors.

Other direct services provided by the League of Mercy may include; sewing, knitting, package wrapping, preparing and serving food, writing letters and even assisting in some disaster relief situations.
