Men

Family values, based on Biblical principles, are at the heart of Salvation Army ministry. In many ways, the disintegration of the traditional family in today's society can be traced to the absence of a strong male figure willing to accept responsibility for his wife and children.

The Salvation Army believes in helping men understand their role as husbands and fathers through Bible studies, men's clubs and associations with groups such as the Promise Keepers. Often, these structured activities are organized by local Salvation Army corps community centers.

However, men's programs are not exclusively reserved for husbands and fathers. Both family and single men find companionship, friendship and opportunities for growth through recreational activities, residential camping and special events such as "men's rallies," which bring together men from the Greater New York area for fun and fellowship.

In addition, men are encouraged to take an active role in their communities through service clubs and other worthwhile organizations.
