Christian Education/Bible Study

As part of the universal Christian church, The Salvation Army believes it has a Scriptural mandate to not only preach the message of Salvation through Jesus Christ, but also to disciple those who become Christians.

At the 45 Salvation Army corps community centers in Greater New York, Christian education is provided through Sunday School for all ages. Teaching programs for young people include Junior Soldiers and Corps Cadets. In their early teen years, young people may take a preparation course to become Senior Soldiers.

In addition, Bible studies conducted by skilled teachers are available at many Salvation Army facilities. Bible studies examine the Scriptures in depth.

Some workshops have been established in recent years to provide instruction for church lay leaders in such subjects as evangelism and preaching.
